TONY AWARDS 2009

Short recap:

Rehearsal was at 7:00 this morning, but I was up at 5 because everyone performing had to be there by 6. That sucked. Running through everything took about 3 hours, as planned, so that was good.

Then, about noon or so, I met up with some pretty amazing people, had lunch, and just hung out until 2:30.

Three o' clock comes around, and the preparation began- hair, makeup, shoes, dresses, hair pieces, purses, even switching bras.

I ended up wearing a short, yellow, one shouldered , Vera Wang, dress, and my hair was lightly pulled back, very elegant.

After that was all done with, grabbed a quick Granola bar to eat, and went straight to Radio City Music Hall. We had to be there by five at THE LATEST.

The show was pretty good. Met some people, saw other stars that I was too afraid to go up and talk to. Either way, everyone looked amazing. Chris, you won in my eyes. You were pretty amazing up there.

Anyways, the closing act was, by far, my favorite of the night. Awesome job Neil! BTW, you are stunningly beautiful in person. HAHAH. :)

That's it for now. I'll write more about it later. I've got parties to attend. Night ya'll.

Someday.

Izzie: I love you

George: I love you

Izzie: We aren't going to make this work are we?

George: Marriage is hard. Even when its right, it's hard. And next time I do it, I just want it to be forever. And I don't, I dont think it's our chemistry. I think it's our timing. But I don't think its our chemistry.

Izzie: So were saying maybe some day?

George: Yeah, were saying someday.

Are you really who you want to be?

Take a look at yourself in the mirror. Who do you see looking back?

Or is there someone else you were meant to be? The person you should have been but fell short of?

Is someone telling you you can't or you won't? Because you can.

Believe that love is out there.

Believe that dreams come true everyday, because they do.

Sometimes happiness doesn't come from fame or money or power. Sometimes happiness comes from good friends and family and from the quiet nobility of leading a good life.

Believe that dreams come true everyday, because they do.

So take a look at yourself in that mirror and tell yourself to be happy. Because you deserve to be.

To Teach Is To Touch A Life

While in Philadelphia, the mayor came and spoke to all of us attending the seminar. He told us of a story involving his daughter. His daughter came to him one day and asked him, "Daddy, why is it that teachers get paid so much less than professional athletes?" He told us he didn't have a good answer for her, in fact he didn't have one at all, but he realized what a good point she had made. Those athletes are able to do what they are doing BECAUSE OF A TEACHER. They are able to read contracts, and use proper grammar when speaking to the press BECAUSE OF A TEACHER.

So why is it that people don't see how important teaching is? Why is it that teachers are some of the lowest paid professionals? Are teachers underpaid? YES, we are-- We do more than teach, we change lives, we impact lives, we mold lives. When one of my students is acting out, I do not yell and scream-- I find out the root of my student's frustration; Maybe he/she's acting out because of something at home? Maybe he/she doesn't understand what we're trying to learn? Who knows, but it's MY job to find out.

Yes, this takes time out of the plans I have. No, this is not found in my job description, I don't have to do this, I don't have to take my work home with me, and think of fun things to do with my students, BUT I DO. And why? Because I give MYSELF. I'm going to do whatever it takes to make that connection with my students.

- TEACHING IS NOT A LOST ART, BUT THE REGARD FOR IT IS A LOST TRADITION.

- ALL KIDS ARE GIFTED. SOME JUST OPEN THEIR PACKAGES EARLIER THAN OTHERS.

- TEACHING IS MORE THAN IMPARTING KNOWLEDGE, IT IS INSPIRING CHANGE.

- THE MEDIOCRE TEACHER TELLS. THE GOOD TEACHER EXPLAINS. THE SUPERIOR TEACHER DEMONSTRATES. THE GREAT TEACHER INSPIRES.

- GOOD TEACHING IS ONE-FOURTH PREPARATION, AND THREE-FOURTHS THEATER.

- I LIKE A TEACHER WHO GIVES YOU SOMETHING TO TAKE HOME TO THINK ABOUT BESIDES HOMEWORK.

- REAL EDUCATION SHOULD EDUCATE US OUT OF SELF INTO SOMETHING FAR FINER; INTO A SELFLESSNESS WHICH LINKS US WITH ALL HUMANITY.

- YOU TEACH A STUDENT A LESSON FOR A DAY; BUT IF YOU CAN TEACH HIM TO LEARN BY CREATING CURIOSITY, HE WILL CONTINUE THE LEARNING PROCESS AS LONG AS HE LIVES.

- YOU DON'T TEACH TO MAKE MONEY. YOU TEACH TO CHANGE LIVES.

Maybe it's Meant to Be?

Today, I got offered a job to be a buyer for Calvin Klein.

Being a buyer for a well known designer has been an all time dream of mine.

Even though I'm not majoring, and nor do I have a degree in anything dealing with fashion, I LOVE it.

The problem is, I don't feel that 1) I'm adequate for the position, 2) that I even fit, or would be able to fit in with other buyers, and 3) that I acquire enough knowledge for such a position.

I guess, I just don't know.

Maybe I should accept the offer?

But, if I take it, I have to move to NYC, full-time. I have to live, breathe, and become a fashion icon. I'm not so sure I'm ready for that. Even though, if all worked as planned, I'd be living the life I've dreamed of.

If I've learned one thing today, it's that I now know that dreams really do come true; you NEVER have to compromise.

OHMIGOD YOU GUYS!
